Environment: A leader for Smart Growth, Pat’s legislation put the first Statewide Smart Growth guidelines into law. Funded restoring the Russian River, Sudden Oak Death Protection, and Oak Woodlands Conservation.

Education: Pat instituted School to Career in California when the Federal Government phased it out. She established 100 Information Technology Career Academies in California’s public high schools in partnership with the National Academy Foundation. 

Health Care: Pat’s law put epinephrine auto-injectors in schools to prevent student fatalities after bee stings or food allergies until emergency service arrives – it has already saved lives. 

Women’s Choice: Pat’s law made it a “hate crime” to trash a family planning clinic – insurance rates cannot go up.
